- Antiscalants are essential chemical additives used in reverse osmosis (RO) water treatment systems to prevent the formation of scale and mineral deposits on the surface of RO membranes. Without antiscalants, fouling from calcium, magnesium, barium, silica, and other dissolved solids can cause serious fouling, reduce membrane efficiency, and shorten system lifespan.
